Radek’s Chocolate – A Journey from Festivals to Streets

Bristol has had an extensive collection of chocolate shops which have opened through the years. While Hotel Chocolat is one of the most popular, other independent chocolate shops have graced Bristol’s streets and satisfied its chocoholics (myself included).
There is, however, a chocolate brand that has shone through in recent months and opened its first-ever shop in Bristol’s Redfield. Radek’s Chocolate has risen from selling hot chocolates on festival fields to selling their products as a high street shop. Having opened its first wholesale store in Bristol’s Redfield, Radek’s Chocolate remains true to its mission of serving its products made with ethical, organic ingredients.

The story of Radek’s is set back to 2008, when its founder (also known as Radek) started out as a chef at a vegetarian restaurant in Bristol. While working there, his interest and admiration for cacao beans grew exponentially. Already harnessing his cooking talents, he created a brownie recipe which incorporated vegan ingredients, including pecans and dates.
Having created this brownie, Radek and his team put themselves to work selling it at festivals across the county. This also promoted their passion for using organic ingredients and built trust, particularly with vegan consumers. Radek’s Chocolate also promises its products are made with the highest-quality ingredients and follow an organic ethos, as evidenced by its OF&G certification.
Towards the present day, the small team at Radek’s came together to deliver their biggest project to date: a high street shop. This shop would consist of a café area at the front, displaying all baked goods on offer and a selection of chocolates. Towards the back of the shop, it would display all available hot chocolate flavours, along with Radek’s chocolate bars and other merchandise for sale. It would be a chocoholic’s mini paradise, which they can look through while waiting for their hot chocolate to be crafted.

Sure enough, their chocolate shop dreams came true in March 2026, when they officially opened this shop to the people of Bristol. As a chocoholic myself, I felt it would be rude not to show my support by taking a short visit to Radek’s newest project.
Upon entering the shop, I immediately noticed the array of chocolates and truffles for sale. Their signature brownie was also on display, as was a menu behind the counter confirming the speciality coffees, hot chocolates and other drinks available. Strolling towards the back of the shop, I came across the full range of products being sold by Radek’s. This included chocolate bars, cocoa powder, and even a book based on how chocolate is made.

I headed back to the café area and ordered a chilli hot chocolate, which the barista recommended highly. I also ordered the signature brownie to get a sense of why it became a popular hit on festival fields. With these products purchased, I headed to Radek’s limited outside seating area to sample its chilli hot chocolate. Taking pleasant sips from the hot chocolate, the chilli flavour comes through gracefully, and is not overpowering the overall chocolate flavour.

I then took Radek’s brownie home to sample it in a more relaxed setting. With each bite, I slowly began to understand why it has been, and continues to be, a hit when sold at festivals. There was a rich, chocolatey note that came through, complemented delightfully by the pecans. The chewiness from the dates also became apparent as I continued eating the brownie. One thing that becomes clear is that I must look out for Radek’s Chocolate at a music festival so that I can consume this brownie again.

With a lot of success being thrown at Radek’s Chocolate in recent years, its future is undoubtedly looking bright. They may even open other shops in Bristol, spreading the word further about its rich chocolatey offerings. If they do, may they succeed.
